It's like a charity vocab quiz. For every word you get right, they donate 20 grains of rice through the UN World Food Program to end hunger. Not only are you saving the world but you're getting smart too! Because my answers 300 grains of rice were donated today!

The winner of the Nobel Peace Prize will be announced tomorrow morning at 11:00am Oslo time (5:00am Newport News time).

For those who don't know...there's an amazing spread on Bono in today's New York Times. It's the little magazine insert. They talk all about his efforts to save the world. You can read it online here. You can also submit questions to him on the website. I thought about asking him something about his hair ("his" hair/his "hair"). But then I decided that it would be an utter waste not to save a smartass question like that to ask in person.

Next week leaders from over 170 nations will meet in New York to discuss issues related to ending world poverty...schooling, clean water, AIDS, malaria...In honor of this meeting The One Campaign had designated Saturday, September 10th to be the second White Band Day. So, don't forget to wear your white bands!!
I was reading NY Magazine a few weeks ago and they had a little feature called "How Would Adrian Grenier Spend $9,000?" Adrian Grenier is Vince from Entourage. He said he'd spend $500 on buying a family in Africa a from heifer.org. COWS!? I thought we were buying wells for Africa. So I checked out the website and it's very cool. They have an online catalog where you can pick which animals you want to buy to donate...cows, goats, pigs, ducks, buffalo, bees and you can even donate an ark of animals for $5000. You can make donations toward projects in other countries as well. Very cool.
