A conversation last month made me ponder the quality of songs U2 have covered over the years. The general consensus is that they suck as a cover band. Which leads me to the question o' the day...
What's your favorite cover song U2 have recorded?
What's your least favorite?
Use this link for list of all U2 songs.
My fav is Dreaming With Tears In My Eyes, originally recorded by Jimmy Rodgers.
My least fav is Happiness Is A Warm Gun, originally recorded by The Beatles.

My favorite is Dancing Barefoot, originally recorded by Patti Smith. My least favorite is also Happiness is A Warm Gun because I love the original so and boy, did they eff it up.

I LOVE Dreaming With Tears in My Eyes!!!!!!!
Not sure whether you meant studio-recorded covers or just them singing someone else's song at any time.
My favorite is Edge singing Macarena... haha jk
My true favorite is a tie between "Everlasting Love" (his giggles on the lead vocal track are awesome and make me wish I had been in the studio to see what was going on) - and "Christmas, Baby Please Come Home."
My least favorite is their performance of "My Hometown" at their Dublin homecoming gig in June 1985. OMG it was atrocious. One phrase comes to mind: "drunken salvation army band."
And my favorite song snippet thrown into a U2 song, this was a tough call because I love "Love Will Tear Us Apart" thrown into the end of WOWY (especially when coupled with the "Shine like stars..." refrain. But what is truly most dear to my heart is when he throws in several a cappella lines of "When Will I See You Again" after "Kite" the day his father died in Aug 2001.
